I'm Heungjin (ν₯μ§κΉλΉ), writing to you from a small countryside town in South Korea.
Not Seoul. Not Busan. Not the Korea you see on TV.
The Korea where roosters still crow at dawn, where neighbors share freshly made rice cakes, and where a traditional market transforms our town every five days.
This is my Korea. And this is my story.
πΎ Who I Am
I run a 3rd-generation traditional mill (λ°©μκ°).
My grandfather started it. My father kept it running. Now it's my turn.
Every morning before sunrise, I fire up the stone mill — pressing fresh perilla oil, grinding sesame, preparing red pepper powder the way it's always been done.
No shortcuts. No machines. Just stone, grain, and tradition.

Every five days, our quiet town wakes up early.
Farmers arrive with fresh produce. Grandmothers set up food stalls. Vendors display handmade crafts. The smell of street food fills the air.
This is the μ€μΌμ₯ — Korea's ancient five-day market tradition.
I've been going to this market my whole life. My grandfather sold here. My father sold here. Now I sell here too.
On this blog, I'll take you there — every market day, through my eyes.

π Why This Blog?
I started Five Day Market Korea because I believe the world deserves to know this Korea exists.
Not just K-pop. Not just K-dramas. Not just Seoul.
The Korea of early mornings and stone mills. The Korea of five-day markets and grandmothers' recipes. The Korea of neighbors who know each other's names and share food across fences.
This Korea is changing. Traditional markets are shrinking. Young people are leaving villages. Old crafts are disappearing.
I write so this Korea is remembered.
